Surgery For Diabetes?

Curing Type 2 diabetes:

Bypass surgery has been successfully used to reduce weight in obese patients.

However:

Compelling evidence is now available which shows that bypass surgery "cures" Type 2 diabetes.

This effect from surgery occurs within days of the operation and does not show any sign of going away. Many years down the line, there is no evidence of diabetes recurring.

Almost all patients are able to dispense with their diabetic medications.

The blood sugars return to normal and the complications of diabetes halted.
By all clinical measurements the person is not diabetic.

How does surgery work?

The aim of this website is to explain in clear terms how!

The mechanisms of action of the surgery on diabetes and sugar levels will be explained. Along with the evidence to suport such bold claims.

Until recently we knew it worked but not exactly how. It was believed to be due to the loss of weight, but recent investigation has shown that the surgery is responsible for the effect. This became obvious when it was noted that the resolution of diabetes occurred ahead of the weight loss.

Modulation of gut hormones is now the mechanism believed to be responsible for the effect. This explains why bypass surgery is much more effective than gastric band surgery in the treatment of Type 2 diabetes.
